SUMMARY:Fall Sesshin at RMERC
DESCRIPTION:Five days of intensive Zen practice at the Rocky Mountain Ecodharma Retreat Center (RMERC). led by Peggy Metta Sheehan and Karin Ryuku Kempe. The sesshin will include zazen\, dokusan\, teisho\, chanting\, and vegetarian meals. \nLocation \nThe retreat center is located at 8941 Overland Road\, Ward\, CO 80481\, approximately 45 minutes northwest of Boulder. There is no cell service in the mountains\, so do enter the destination into your map app before leaving the Boulder area. Average highs will be in the 50s and lows below freezing. \nRegistration\nSesshin price is $475 for both ZCD members and non-members. ZCD members will be given registration priority. The price includes a non-refundable $50 application fee. Please note that payment is required for registration. Sesshin capacity is 16 participants. Registration for Mountain Staff opens August 12. General registration opens August 19. The registration deadline is September 23.  \nIf you are not a ZCD member\, or if this is your first sesshin with ZCD\, please contact the office for a sesshin application. Acceptance to sesshin for all participants\, regardless of membership status\, is at the discretion of the teachers. \nScholarships\nFor those in financial need\, partial scholarships are available. Please contact the office to apply. For those with financial means\, we ask that you donate an amount of your choosing to the Mary Mich Sesshin Scholarship Fund to enable all who desire to participate in sesshin. Details provided upon registration. \nSchedule\nPlan to arrive at RMERC at 4pm on the first day. We will depart by 1pm on the last day. More information\, including the sesshin schedule and what to bring\, will be sent when you register. \nCovid Policy\nWe no longer require a COVID test prior to check in.  However\, if you have a cold\, cough or other symptoms immediately prior to or during sesshin\, please notify the office or a sesshin leader to discuss your situation.

SUMMARY:Volunteer at Metro Caring Food Bank
DESCRIPTION:One of the core values of ZCD is a commitment to kindness and service. “The fruit of our practice is loving-hearted relationships and right action in the world.” \nAs such\, and in alignment ZCD’s affiliation with Zen Peacemakers International\, we regularly support the work at Metro Caring Food Bank by providing a crew of volunteers the third Thursday of every month. You are warmly invited to join our volunteers to assist in the warehouse with unpacking and sorting food\, stocking shelves\, or checking in/checking out customers. No prior training is required. Please use the Register button below to volunteer for this day. \nWe have a number of regular volunteers who know the ropes and the Metro Caring staff also do a good orientation for first-time volunteers. If this is your first time\, ZCD Volunteer Coordinator David Gibson will contact you regarding parking instructions and a volunteer waiver form. We start with a brief Council Circle practice in the parking lot at 11:45 am before starting our shift at 12 noon. Our shift ends at 3:30.
