SUMMARY:Zazen and Chanting
DESCRIPTION:Two 25-minute rounds of zazen with kinhin (walking meditation) between each round\, followed by a chanting service. This is an in-person event that will also be streamed on Zoom. \nIn speaking on the practice of chanting\, Robert Aitken Roshi said\, “The concentration of the assembly in chanting is a very powerful thing. If we can join with that concentration\, then the mind is stilled.” \nPhilip Kapleau Roshi added a deeper perspective: “Mind is unlimited. Chanting when performed egolessly has the power to penetrate visible and invisible worlds.” \nChanting is a powerful and invaluable practice at our center\, one we are emphasizing more as we move towards our annual Rohatsu sesshin\, during which we chant daily. This is an excellent opportunity for you to engage in chanting more fully\, either in preparation for sesshin or simply to experience its profound effects. \nWe are holding two scheduled evening chanting services this November. There will be two rounds of zazen followed by the chanting service. We hope you can join us for one or both of these opportunities to let go and flow into the practice. \nService 1: Thursday\, November 6 \nService 2: Tuesday\, November 11

SUMMARY:Cha Dao - The Way of Tea
DESCRIPTION:Cha Dao (茶道)\, the Way of Tea\, is more than just brewing and drinking tea—it is a practice of harmony\, mindfulness\, and connection to nature. Rooted in ancient Chinese philosophy\, Cha Dao embodies the balance of yin and yang\, the flow of Qi (life energy)\, and the simplicity of Zen thought. \nIn a traditional Chinese tea ceremony\, tea is prepared with graceful movements\, pure intention\, and deep respect for the elements. Using carefully selected living tea (naturally grown\, high-quality leaves)\, pure water\, and elegant teaware\, each infusion becomes a meditation—an opportunity to be present in the moment. Join us in exploring Cha Dao—where every cup is a journey. \nEach ceremony lasts approximately one hour. The suggested donation is $25\, made to the host at the time of the event. Registration closes 24 hours before each ceremony. For more information\, feel free to contact Greg Fellman directly at gregfellman@yahoo.com.

SUMMARY:Meeting in the Moment
DESCRIPTION:Meeting in the Moment through Music and Dance \nIn this group\, we step into the unknown\, with very little structure and no verbal language\, for an hour and a half. We express ourselves and interact with each other through movement and sound\, allowing ourselves to be guided by our intuition and our sensitivity to the shared experience of the group. Anyone can join us. If you can walk\, you can dance; if you can talk\, you can sing; if you can clap your hands\, you can play a drum. You just need to be willing to step into the unknown and allow yourself to be guided by your experience of the moment. \nFor more information and guidelines\, please click here.
