SUMMARY:Presentation - Intro to River Watch
DESCRIPTION:Stay after tea and cookies to learn about ZCD’s new ecosystem stewardship program\, River Watch\, and how you can be a part of it. \nRiver Watch of Colorado is a statewide volunteer water quality-monitoring program operated in partnership between River Science and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). River Watch’s volunteer citizen scientists are trained to monitor water quality and other indicators of watershed health and provide high-quality data to educate communities and inform decision-makers about the condition of Colorado’s waters. \nZCD is now a certified member of River Watch and we have adopted the stream that runs through Harvard Gulch park near here as our monitoring site. Once a month we will collect and test water samples from our stream and upload the data to the River Watch database. \nFollowing the presentation\, anyone curious is invited to come out to the stream to help us collect samples and then come back to ZCD and do some chemistry!

SUMMARY:Meeting in the Moment
DESCRIPTION:Meeting in the Moment through Music and Dance \nIn this group\, we step into the unknown\, with very little structure and no verbal language\, for an hour and a half. We express ourselves and interact with each other through movement and sound\, allowing ourselves to be guided by our intuition and our sensitivity to the shared experience of the group. Anyone can join us. If you can walk\, you can dance; if you can talk\, you can sing; if you can clap your hands\, you can play a drum. You just need to be willing to step into the unknown and allow yourself to be guided by your experience of the moment. \nFor more information and guidelines\, please click here.

SUMMARY:Volunteer at Metro Caring Foodbank
DESCRIPTION:One of the core values of ZCD is a commitment to kindness and service. “The fruit of our practice is loving-hearted relationships and right action in the world.” \nAs such\, and in alignment ZCD’s affiliation with Zen Peacemakers International\, we regularly support the work at Metro Caring Food Bank by providing a crew of volunteers the third Thursday of every month. You are warmly invited to join our volunteers to assist in the warehouse with unpacking and sorting food\, stocking shelves\, or checking in/checking out customers. No prior training is required. Please use the Register button below to volunteer for this day. \nWe have a number of regular volunteers who know the ropes and the Metro Caring staff also do a good orientation for first-time volunteers. If this is your first time\, ZCD Volunteer Coordinator David Gibson will contact you regarding parking instructions and a volunteer waiver form. We start with a brief meeting in the parking lot at 11:45 am before starting our shift at 12 noon. Our shift ends at 3:30. Please contact David at 720-671-0960 or dgibson@nextgridcollaborative.com with any questions.

SUMMARY:Cha Dao - The Way of Tea
DESCRIPTION:Cha Dao (茶道)\, the Way of Tea\, is more than just brewing and drinking tea—it is a practice of harmony\, mindfulness\, and connection to nature. Rooted in ancient Chinese philosophy\, Cha Dao embodies the balance of yin and yang\, the flow of Qi (life energy)\, and the simplicity of Zen thought. \nIn a traditional Chinese tea ceremony\, tea is prepared with graceful movements\, pure intention\, and deep respect for the elements. Using carefully selected living tea (naturally grown\, high-quality leaves)\, pure water\, and elegant teaware\, each infusion becomes a meditation—an opportunity to be present in the moment. Join us in exploring Cha Dao—where every cup is a journey. \nEach ceremony lasts approximately one hour. The suggested donation is $25\, made to the host at the time of the event. Registration closes 24 hours before each ceremony. For more information\, feel free to contact Greg Fellman directly at gregfellman@yahoo.com.
