SUMMARY:Presentation - Intro to River Watch
DESCRIPTION:Stay after tea and cookies to learn about ZCD’s new ecosystem stewardship program\, River Watch\, and how you can be a part of it. \nRiver Watch of Colorado is a statewide volunteer water quality-monitoring program operated in partnership between River Science and Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW). River Watch’s volunteer citizen scientists are trained to monitor water quality and other indicators of watershed health and provide high-quality data to educate communities and inform decision-makers about the condition of Colorado’s waters. \nZCD is now a certified member of River Watch and we have adopted the stream that runs through Harvard Gulch park near here as our monitoring site. Once a month we will collect and test water samples from our stream and upload the data to the River Watch database. \nFollowing the presentation\, anyone curious is invited to come out to the stream to help us collect samples and then come back to ZCD and do some chemistry!

SUMMARY:Workshop - The Way of Tea: Cultivating a Personal Tea Practice
DESCRIPTION:Cha Dao (茶道)\, the Way of Tea\, is more than just brewing and drinking tea\, it is a practice of harmony\, mindfulness\, and connection to nature. Rooted in ancient Chinese philosophy\, Cha Dao embodies the balance of yin and yang\, the flow of Qi (life energy)\, and the simplicity of Zen. \n We will begin with a silent tea ceremony and then have a guided journey into the world of beginning a personal tea practice. We will go over the leaves in a bowl ceremony step by step so you may develop or deepen your home practice. Please bring your questions about tea and tea practice\, and we will co-explore together. You will go home with a tin of tea with which you can begin practicing. \n This workshop will be co-lead by Greg Fellman and Amelia Broughton. If you have any questions about it\, you may send an email to gregfellman@yahoo.com. \nCost for the workshop is $60. Please register here AND send $60 via Venmo to @Greg-Fellman. If you are being mindful of your finances this season\, please reach out to Greg.
