Book Club
Click the event for details and registration. Our events begin precisely on time, and doors will be locked five minutes before the event begins in order to foster an environment of supportive silence in the zendo (practice hall). Please plan to arrive at least ten minutes before the stated start time. Parking can be challenging in our neighborhood, so allow extra time for finding a parking space and walking to the center. Our daily sittings do not require advance registration, but do register in advance for special events such as introductory seminars, all-day sittings, workshops, and classes.
Book Club
January 25, 2025 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am
Led by assistant teacher Dennis Sienko, the book club meets upstairs in the library. We will be reading Taking the Path of Zen by Robert Aitken. This book presents the practice, lifestyle, rationale, and ideology of Zen Buddhism with great clarity. This book discusses correct breathing, posture, routine, teacher-student relations, and koan study, as well as common problems and milestones encountered in the process. Book club members are also invited to attend the 25 minute zazen, prior to meeting.
